Hiroshima: Food – Ootoya for Dinner

Ootoya Japanese Restaurant is one of the most successful Japanese Restaurant chain with about 376 restaurants in Japan and many other overseas outlets in Singapore, Taipei, China, etc.. The first time I ate Ootoya was at Suntec branch many years back. Today is my first time eating in an authentic Japan Outlet. Highly recommended by Alan, that the price is lower compared to Singapore. We decided to have our dinner here after looking thru the menu.

The service crew doesn’t understand any English. He went to take out an English Menu for us. I ordered a Grilled Saba set with white rice for 849 Yen. The portion seems to be bigger and rice is enormous. After finishing the rice, I barely can eat anymore. Bones on the Saba is very minimal. The fish oil smells nice and the skin is grilled with perfect crispness. We came early and beat the crowd. Not long after, the queue began to build up and many customers were sitting on the waiting area. After a good meal, we set off to shop around Hondori and watch the night lighting event at Heiwa Odori.
